Curium Solutions – Simplified Change Management, Birmingham, West Midlands

Lesley Carter

Office Manager

What you do at Curium?

I provide back office support to all members of the team as well as finance support to our Finance and Operations Director.

What you enjoy about working at Curium?

Since I joined Curium in January 2013 no two days have been the same as my role varies so much. One day I can be scheduling meetings, providing hospitality to clients and the team, or organising team or client events, and on another working with the finance team, crunching numbers and processing accounts. My role at Curium encompasses all my previous experience but allows me to develop my skills further through training and personal development, which is always encouraged.

I also like working at our new offices, which are based right in Birmingham city centre. They house state-of-the art technology and are bright and spacious, which makes coming to work a real pleasure.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I am a very keen cook. Baking is my favourite past time, however, I love nothing more than putting a meal together for our friends and family and taking all day to plan, prepare and cook for it.  Sunday lunch is always a big event in our house when the family all descend on us for a weekly feast.

Since moving out into the Derbyshire countryside last year, we have been very busy renovating our 17th century cottage which has given us great pleasure. I have also joined a local walking group which means I get to discover on foot the beautiful Derbyshire countryside – and as a bonus the walk starts and ends at the village pub. I love a quiz and attend a weekly Quiz Night… I won’t be applying to Eggheads any time soon though as most weeks we come last. Nevertheless, I still love the challenge.

What has made you proud in the last year?

At Curium, it is being given the opportunity to work with a fantastic team and the way our office procedures and policies are being implemented to a high standard. I feel privileged to be part of Curium’s development and growth and was thrilled when we became a finalist at the Birmingham Post Small Business of the Year Awards 2016.

Personally, after many years of study while working full time, I was finally awarded a BA (Honours) in English and French with a very respectable 2.1.

I have the most amazing family and adore my two grandsons who both love coming to Grandma’s for baking lessons and sleepovers.
