Curium Solutions has won two prestigious awards, including Business of the Year, at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) awards. The change consultancy won the Excellence in People Development category for its commitment to helping people achieve their potential, before being selected from all category winners to take the top prize.

The GBCC awards celebrate the best of business and enterprise throughout the region. They were announced at a ceremony attended by 1,300 people from across the Midlands business community, held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham last Thursday (19 April).

Andy Dawson, Curium Director and Co-founder, said: “This is a proud moment for Curium. Winning Business of the Year is a true honour and a sign of the progress we’ve made since founding Curium 10 years ago. Excellence in People Development is really important to us as it reflects our commitment to helping people, teams and organisations achieve their potential.”

Russell Jeans, chairman of the GBCC awards judges, said: “We felt that Curium deserved the Business of the Year award because they have achieved remarkable global success in a very short time. Their team is dedicated to helping other businesses and individuals through first-hand experience and the award is fully deserved.”

James Farrow, Curium Director and Co-founder, added: “This is an incredible achievement and, of course, credit goes both to our talented Curium team and brilliant customers. Over the last ten years we have seen a huge growth in the appetite for a people-first approach to change.

“More companies are waking up to the fact that going through change is an opportunity for personal as well as business growth. We’ve found that the combination of our two core practices – change delivery and performance learning – is striking the right balance of delivering tangible benefit along with the competitive advantage of smarter, more engaged people.”

HSBC, Birmingham City University and Elonex were headline sponsors of the dinner and awards while National Express sponsored the Business of the Year award.

Curium is also in the running for more regional business gongs at the Business Masters awards, where it is shortlisted in the Innovation and Small Business categories. Hosted by TheBusinessDesk.com, the Business Masters showcase the achievements and success of businesses in the Midlands. Award winners will be revealed as a ceremony at Edgbaston Stadium on 3 May.

Adam Farrow, Curium Director and Co-founder, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our Birmingham roots and to be crowned Business of the Year in our home city in our 10th anniversary year tops off a great first decade for Curium.”

Curium is the current holder of the Business Desk’s Professional Services Business Masters award. It also features in Innovation 50 – an index of the 50 most forward-thinking companies in the Midlands – and was shortlisted in the City of Birmingham Business Awards.
