The Midlands’ best leaders have been revealed at the first-ever Midlands Leadership Awards (MLA), with Homeserve CEO Greg Reed taking home the ultimate accolade: Leader of the Year.

Hosted by TheBusinessDesk and with Curium Solutions as the headline sponsor, The MLA showcase the region’s leaders from organisations large and small, public and private, alongside transformational and diversity & inclusion leaders.

Curium Director and Co-founder James Farrow said: “Leadership is a critical capability for success and never has it been more in the spotlight. Organisations are facing a time of massive change, dealing with issues like Brexit, constantly emerging tech and workplace diversity, on top of their many day-to-day demands.

“In this fast-paced and confusing environment, having brilliant leaders to inspire and empower their teams, and push their organisation forward will be the ultimate differentiator. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. It was a pleasure judging such a high calibre selection of entries.”

The winners are:

  • Young Leader – Samantha Earl, Pertemps
  • Best Leadership Programme – LGBT Leadership Programme, Birmingham LGBT
  • Empowering Potential – Simon McAlpine, Infinity IT Solutions
  • Diversity and Inclusion – Professor Kiran Trehan, University of Birmingham

Alex Turner, joint-managing director of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “We created the Midlands Leadership Awards to celebrate the people and organisations across the region who are role models for their teams and raise the bar for their competitors.

“Our winners and shortlisted have showcased the best qualities of modern leadership – of inspiration, collaboration and empowerment – and these awards have been a true celebration of the transformational impact great leaders are having in our region.”
