Carefully think about the project: what are you doing and why? Will this new system streamline processes, if so which ones? Will it improve the working lives of all who use it, if not, why? If not everyone why? Whatever the desired outcome, it’s important to clearly define goals, and map the change, for yourself and the rest of the team. You’ll become one unit working towards one goal, thus making the implementation process that much smoother.
Moving on from defining your goals is planning the route to get there. This is essential for both you and everyone else in your business. The lack of a clear roadmap and what good progress looks like can lead you significantly off course without realising it.
A ‘map’ detailing where you’re going, the business outcomes you are trying to achieve, and therefore the changes that need to take place, makes things clear for everyone and ensures you’re all heading in the same direction. This also facilitates progress and motivation within your team.
It’s understandable if you’re feeling a bit demoralised but you’re already doing better than you think. If you’re reading this, you’re clearly still driven to make your project a success and it’s not too late.
